processUnfolded protein response (UPR)
The UPR aims to fold good proteins, despite the ER stress, as long as the level of stress does not become too great or lasts too long. The UPR causes an increase in the volume of the ER lumen, so that proteins can still be folded, despite lack of space caused by the accumulation of wrong proteins. At the same time these misfolded proteins are broken down by proteasomes, or recycled into aggressomes. In this way, the cell can continue to do its job despite the stressors that act on itRef: The contributor did not provide a reference0 confidence points 0 comments Added on Jun 14, 2022 by Barbara Van De KeerEdited on Jul 1, 2022 by No update Join Ninatoka!!
