conceptLymphocyte
All lymphocytes in mammalian lymph nodes and spleen have a remote origin in the bone marrow: those that have undergone an intermediate cycle of proliferation in the thymus (thymus-dependent, or T lymphocytes) mediate cellular immunity, whereas those that seed directly into lymphoid tissue (thymus-independent, or B lymphocytes) provide the precursors of cells that produce circulating antibodies.Ref:MYRON YANOFF, JOSEPH W.
