SAH (s-adenosyl-homocysteine, s-adenosylhomocysteine)

Methionine is the major donor of methyl groups in the body (Figure 15.4). In the steps of transsulfuration, methionine is converted to S-adenosylmethionine and then to S-adenosylhomocysteine. The major product of the adenosyl pathway is homocysteine, which is oxidized rapidly to the disulfide, homocystine.
